Mathematics Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

 Use Technology in Mathematics

  • Organize and perform calculations on data to model real-world situations.
  • Use technology to visualize and analyze the relationships between variables.

Think Mathematically

  • Make conjectures about data and test them using mathematical experimentation.
  • Determine general mathematical principles from the examination of a collection of specific examples.

Precision and Accuracy in Mathematical Computations and Problem Solving

  • Simplify and solve expressions and equations by correctly applying algebraic properties.
  • Determine which mathematical techniques are effective in solving various real-world problems.

Mathematical Modeling Using Functions and Graphs

  • Find the equation of best fit for a raw data set.
  • Analyze graphs of real-world phenomena and interpret the graphs in their context.

Analyzing Data and Drawing Conclusions

  • Discover trends in data. Extrapolate from and understand the implications of these trends.
  • Interpret data in the context of real-world situations and draw conclusions.
