Applied Technology Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate professional communication skills by applying proper automotive related terminology and documentation related to the 3 C's (concern, cause, correction) all while utilizing appropriate oral communication skills with coworkers, supervisors and customers. Conduct one's self ethically and productively in order to work as a team-member in a diverse working environment. Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- Demonstrate proficiency with modern automotive tools and equipment while showing the ability to utilize appropriate industry resources and service information. Inspect, diagnose and repair vehicles in accordance with ASE Education Foundation standards.
- Demonstrate a level of technical knowledge and skills by applying theoretical knowledge related to automotive systems, while implementing the technical knowledge and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and repair various automotive systems.
- Keep pace with an ever-evolving automotive industry and enter managerial or business roles by applying interpersonal, math and business skills.

- Adhere to all FMCSA safety practices
- Identify and describe vehicle components and systems
- Recognize and report vehicle component and system malfunctions.
- Successfully conduct a safe pre-trip inspection with complete air brake test.
- Select proper equipment and load securement devices for safe transportation of cargo.
- Produce accurate logbooks and E-logs based on FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- Summarize knowledge learned in classroom theory content units.
- Successfully pass all class theory content unit tests according to FMSCA/ELDT criteria.
- Successfully pass all GCC-CMV certificate classes according to college criteria.
- Successfully and safely demonstrate proficiency and pass all range and road tests in all vehicle driving maneuvers according to FMCSA/ELDT criteria.
- Perform calculations in the development of an appropriate trip plan.
- Effectively communicate advanced driving and operating procedures.
- Effectively communicate with law enforcement, employers, customers, drivers, and the greater public, in a professional manner.
- Comply with all FMCSA, state, and local regulations including trucking industry practices in all driving and non-driving activities.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism within a salon setting by maintaining at least 75% under professionalism.
- Maintain effective communication while connecting with clients within a salon setting.
Demonstrate entry level knowledge and skills with the ability to further gain licensure through the state of Michigan and/or Wisconsin.
- Complete the final mock board written exam with a score of at least 75%.
- Complete the final mock board practical exam with a score of at least 75%.
- Complete practical assessments with a score of at least 75%
Demonstrate efficiency in all salon cleaning and sanitation per Michigan State Board rules
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Professionalism: Graduates of the program will act in a competent and responsible manner to perform a multitude of tasks related to ski resort operations and customer service excellence.
- Communication: Graduates of the program will be able to present information between people or groups to facilitate learning and understanding in a verbal, written, and non-verbal manner.
- Core Knowledge: Graduates of the program will apply knowledge and understanding of multi-faceted structures of ski resorts and the roles they play in business, management, and resort planning or development.
- Industry: Graduates of the program will apply comprehension of ski industry standards, group populations, and cultural values to promote positive change using big-picture and detail-oriented thinking.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Understand, communicate and mitigate common safety hazards related to welding processes and careers.
- Identify weld symbols and interpret welding symbols.
- Demonstrate skill with safety inspections, equipment assembly, and efficient operation of manual oxy-fuel (OFC) gas cutting equipment and accessories.
- Classify SMAW electrodes using the AWS classification system.
- Select proper shop equipment and accessories for various job assignments based on equipment availability and project requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating GMAW and FCAW equipment on carbon steel.
- Classify metals based on industry requirements and metallurgical properties.
- Explain the adverse effects of welding and thermal processes on metals.
- Apply fundamental GTAW process knowledge towards advanced process applications.
- Inspect and classify weld flaws and defects using welding code standards.
- Compare welding inspection technologies for practical industry applications.
- Relate the role of quality control and welding inspection to the welding industry and public safety.
- Successfully apply process knowledge to pass qualification testing on plate or pipe according to welding code and welding procedure specification requirements.
