Can I get a tour of the campus suites?
If you would like a campus tour, please contact the Admissions Office at (906) 932-4231 ext. 347 to arrange for a visit.
What does it cost to live in the campus suites?
The current (2008-09) rate is $3680 for the academic year, which includes all utilities and parking. Rates are subject to change by action of the GCC Board of Trustees.
What kind of public transportation is available?
Gogebic County offers public bus system that runs throughout the county and includes the college. Call 932-2523 for information and schedules.
Can I bring my car to campus?
Yes. Parking for students who live in the campus suites is located in a designated area close to your suite. The campus parking ordinance which outlines all parking regulations will be given to you when you check into your suite.
How many credits do I need to be able to live in the Campus Suites?
You must be enrolled in 12 credit hours to live in Campus Suites. Exceptions can be sought by written application in the Dean of Students Office.
Who works in the Campus Suites building?
The Resident Manager is in charge of the facility. Other staff members include a Community Advisor on each floor. Campus maintenance personnel assist with the general upkeep of public areas in the building as well as maintenance problems within the Suites.
Are there employment opportunities within the Campus Suites?
There may be! If you are interested in student employment, contact the Financial Aid Department or call 932-4231 ext. 206.
Does the college insure my belongings when I live in Campus Suites?
No, the college is not responsible for the theft, destruction, or loss of your money or personal belongings. We encourage you to carry your own personal property insurance.
Can I have a pet in my suite?
Sorry, the only pets permitted in the Campus Suites are fish in a 10 gallon tank or smaller.
How safe and secure are the suites?
The college as a whole is a very safe place. You may view our campus crime and security report on our website at www.gogebic.edu and click on "About GCC" and "Quick Facts". The Campus Suites building also has many safety features including double key entry, electronic surveillance and nighttime supervision.
Do I need to remove my belongings during breaks?
At the end of the semester (in December), students are required to leave the Campus Suites, but do not need to remove their belongings unless they are checking out and have been officially released from their contract. Students with special circumstances may petition to remain in the Campus Suites during break periods.
