How to Apply for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan

Note: Your parent loan will not be processed until all three steps are completed.

Step 1:

Step 2:

• Go to www.StudentLoans.gov
• Sign in with your FAFSA PIN number. If you do not have a PIN, you must apply for one. There is a direct link to the PIN website as soon as you enter StudentLoans.gov.
• Click on Request a Direct PLUS Loan
• Click on Parent PLUS to complete the application

Step 3:

• Go to www.StudentLoans.gov
• Sign in with your FAFSA PIN number
• Click on Complete MPN
• Click on Parent PLUS to complete your parent loan application

You do not need to sign in again if you complete Step 3 immediately after finishing Step 2.

You should not submit your Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan Request Form until Step 2 and Step 3 have been completed.

GCC will receive an electronic message from the U.S. Department of Education when you have completed the online steps.
