English Instructor
Gogebic Community College seeks innovative, collaborative and dynamic individuals for a full-time English Faculty vacancy within the Language and Arts division to teach courses in developmental level English, Interpersonal Skills, and Composition. Opportunities to teach literature and poetry classes may be available. This tenure-track position begins in August 2012.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have the Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in English Composition or English Studies, or Master’s of Fine Arts in Writing
- A minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent part-time/adjunct teaching experience in college level English with particular familiarity and proven success in developmental level English courses
- Coursework, experience and/or teaching experience in composition and rhetoric, and developmental level courses
- Experience developing and teaching online courses or using other technology to support learning
- Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities
- A strong familiarity and acceptance to the community college form, function, philosophy and comprehensive mission
- Familiarity of innovative assessment techniques and strategies for classroom assessment
- Experience in interdisciplinary learning
- A track record of participation in the community and with professional organizations
GOGEBIC COMMUNITY COLLEGE is a fully accredited, full-service community college with a head count of approximately 1,400 full- and part-time students. Certified Nursing Assistant Instructors - Houghton Campus
Qualifications
- Current Michigan RN License
- 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year of long-term care facility experience
- Experience teaching adults or a State of MI teaching certificate.
Applicants must complete a workshop entitled “Train the Trainer” workshop. Participants complete an examination at the end of the workshop to determine if they are ready to teach in the program.
